America! America!

Oh land of the Free and home of the brave,
It is time for us to resolve the divisiveness that keeps us separate,
And adopt the ideas that have made us free,
For as a Nation we stand on the principle, ” That All Men Are Created Equal”,
If we believe in such a justice,
Why do separate ourselves with titles of ignorance, such as,
” White America”,
” Black America”,
“Asian America”,
“Latin America”. and
“Native America”,
We can no longer submit to being separate,
or Unequal,
For in the eyes of God,
Are we not all made equal?
And so as the name of this Great Nation,
Are we not all Americans?
No longer should we sing the spiritual, “We Shall Overcome”, as a people, while so many of our Nations people still live in yesterday’s past,
It is time to awaken out of our sleep,
Every man, woman, and , child….
It is time to sing a new song,
not just a song of overcoming, but a song of coming over,
Coming over to the side of love, peace, and unity,
A song that will unite us, and end racism, separatism, and hate,
Yes. A song of harmony,
One that will teach us to share in this land together, but we can no longer live in it with the violence that is so rapidly destroying us,
Yes. It’s time to come over,
It’s time to adopt a song for today, One that will unite us,
A song that will carry us into our future, and not so much remind us of the bitterness of yesterdays past,
Yes. It’s time to come over,
For we are America!
Land of the free,
Home of the Brave,
We can, And we will walk into our future singing a new song,
One that will unite us, and bring peace to our land,
Oh yes!
Not only will we overcome,
We will come over,
We will do it!
