Can A Black Life Matter?

Amid all the turmoil, in our streets,

My body marches to the sound of, “No Justice! No Peace!”

While deep down in the core of my soul,

my heart filled with grief,

Lord give us Peace,

Babies marching in the face of adversity,

tryin’ to show strength,

While people watch from the comfort of their homes,

Calling them animals who don’t belong,

All they want to hear is injustice is wrong,

Young, gifted, and Black,

Yes….remember we sang that’s where it’s at,

Real Pastor’s, Real Preacher’s,

Real Unity, Love, Real Teacher’s,

We were strong y’all,

High five strong,

Marching to the sound of voices lifted high,

Earth and heaven ringing,

We Shall Over Come one day,

Maybe…. before we die,

Can a Black Life Matter?,

Is that to much to ask?,

The simplest request has caused a Pathetic mess,

All lives matters, that’s what they say,

May be truth, but on today,

Honey we talkin’ ’bout-

Black Lives,

Sweeter than Cherry Lives,

Coco Chocolate Lives,

Deep Blackberry Lives,

Amazing Grace Lives,

Lives full of song,

And gifted with dance,

And so we Stand,

Amazing…and Black….
