I have always been some what of a loner, but lately I have experienced a place of wilderness loneliness, if I can call it that. I am discovering that wilderness loneliness is not the type of lonely where you don’t have relationships, laughter, love or peace. but rather a place where you are in constant communion with God. It’s not a place that you travel to on your own. It is a space God leads you to. I hope that makes since.
God desires to have time with us alone. A special time where you can talk with him, and he can also speak with you. It was never meant for man to gain satisfaction by the works or accomplishments of his own hands. The reason there are billionaires who don’t know joy! real Joy, and are constantly seeking to gain more.
A feeling of loneliness tells you that your heart is desiring something outside of what you already have. Some times people confuse this call for a time to seek companionship and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. God does not want us to be alone. However the loneliness we feel could also be God calling us closer to him because he wants to have a special time with us to commune. It is a call away from all the distractions of life to replenish, refresh, and renew your relationship with God.
Replenish- To fill or build up something again.
Refresh-To provide new vigor, and energy by food rest,etc.
Renew= restore, rejuvenate, renovate.
Look at those words. Reflect upon all the things that God desires to do for us in our wilderness loneliness. He is calling us to a place where he can commune with us and supply our needs, as he fills us with new love, joy ,peace, hope, energy. He is rebuilding us for such a time as we live.
Do not neglect the feeling of loneliness. ride with it. God is doing Great things.
