What is there to be said about forgiveness? It is the most humbling act one could extend to their fellowman. Most times if you are on the receiving end you have no idea of the struggle one would have to relinquish to overcome the pride that stands in the way of humbling the heart. I can assure you that forgiveness does not take away the pain, but it puts you in right standing with God. When asked by Peter, one of the disciples how many times should we forgive a trespass, Jesus replied,” until seventy times seven. Matthew 18-21). He then gives the example of the unforgiving servant who had been forgiven of his debt, but was unwilling to forgive his brother of a debt that he owed. (Matthew 18-21)
This is an example in relationship to how God forgives us, and we should forgive others. Look…..I am so still working on this part of my discipleship. I have to be completely transparent here! LOl! I do forgive but it may take a minute for me to put my anger a side. God help me! It is just as sinful to know that you have it within your power to release, someone of a wrong deed, than it is for them to have committed whatever fault they have committed, against you period.
I know….someone is saying what if it’s in the case of marital infidelity, or some other misfortune. I will say unto you that I can only give you what the word of God says on the subject. It is up to you to work through it with the help Of God, friends, family, prayer, wise counsel, and a good church home. Time heals….if you will allow it, maybe not all things, but most, it may take longer for you depending on circumstances surrounding your pain, but you can heal. I don’t quite know why God had me write this today. I would not consider myself an authority on this subject, but who am I to question him. It is my job to just obey. God Bless.
