There will come a time in life when we have to stand for something or choose to fall for anything. There is so much going on in our world today that it would be wise to make a decision now. Do you really know what you believe? Are you ready to take a stand for it? Sure, most of us will answer yes because we have not been tested. I’d like to think that I would take a stand for what I believe to be righteous as well.
Well let me tell you about three young men who had a brush with death because they were willing to take a stand. Now Nebuchadnezzar had set up an image for all the people in his province to worship. He had told them that at the sound of the instruments every person would bow down to the graven image.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who where of Hebrew heritage and had entered into Babylon during the time of captivity refused to bow down and worship the brazen image because it was to them an idol, nor was it customary for the Hebrew people to worship other gods. As the proclamation stated any person who did not bow down to the graven image would be thrown into the fiery furnace, and so it went with them. They were each tossed therein.
These where young men who where so convinced of there faith that they were willing to die for it. Young people, will you submit to the peer pressures around you? Will you give in to the belief systems of other knowing well what you have been taught? I would hope you would be brave enough, and strong enough to stand in the day of your temptation. It is easier to follow the crowd, but honorable to take a stand for what you believe. The Bible tells us that there is no temptation that is not common to man. (we have all experienced temptations, they are not new) 1 Corinthians 10:13.
