If I were going to say something about Esther to you ladies, I would tell you she was beautiful, pure, courageous, and cooperative. All of these women are described as beautiful, but we know that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. So let’s take a look at some of the other characteristics of Esther.
The Bible does not give a lot of detail about her character, but we know that she was pure. Now ladies….in that day to be a virgin until the time of marriage was a must! You would be stoned to death if you were not, and most times if a woman had been taken by a man she would be shamed and live away in isolation for the rest of her days. In todays culture being pure, abstinence is seen as shameful.
We see here how we have gotten away from what God deemed to be sacred only in marriage. It would serve society well if we would go back to doing things the way God had intended, perhaps we would not have the heartaches we have in our relationships or society today.
I know the suggestion of abstinence is unthinkable in this day and time, but even a famous man wrote a book asking woman to abstain at least ninety days, and many of you listened to him, how much the more if God says it. Anyway, a little food for thought….maybe someone will consider it.
