A SMALL REQUEST

I had to go for my physical today. I am never excited about it but it’s necessary. Upon leaving I was sitting out in front of the facility waiting for my lift driver. I had  crossed my legs and was sitting on the bench patiently waiting and enjoying my phone when a woman walked up to me and said, ” I have always wanted to sit with my legs crossed.”. She took me by surprise so I just looked at her and smiled.

I wanted to respond, but I did not know what to say so I just sat there. And then she said it again, “I have always wanted to sit with my legs crossed,” then she proceeded to walk into the building.

As I watched her walk away it seemed that she had a problem with bending her knees because her legs motioned straight up, as she rocked from side to side to move forward. I sat there for a few minutes, but I really wanted to follow her and ask her why she could not sit with her legs crossed.

However I  sat there thinking of how blessed I really was to be able to have motion in my legs where I could cross them with ease if I’d like. What a simple request I thought. We pray to God for things that are not of importance, and here is a lady who just wants to sit with her legs crossed and can’t.  This thinking also applies to food, clothing , shelter, and other basic necessities we are blessed to enjoy. How vain and selfish can we be. Lord forgive us.

Just saying-
